Zambia defeated Nigeria to win the third-place match.

Zambia won the third-place play-off of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations by defeating Nigeria 1-0.

The Super Falcons, who have won the WAFCON nine times, had their worse WAFCON performance ever after falling to Bruce Mwape’s women in Casablanca.

The defending African champions had the opening opportunity two minutes into the low-scoring game, but Ifeoma Onumonu missed from close range.

The Super Falcons dominated the first quarter and had multiple scoring opportunities, but they were unable to capitalize on them.

At the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, the Super Falcons suffered for their wastefulness thanks to Evarine Katongo’s first-half effort that put the two teams apart.
